How I Accidentally Bought a Ticket to Go to Europe for 5 Weeks

Feb 27

Today is this day. It still doesn’t feel real though alas I am now across the Atlantic and am arriving in Milan. I’ve been oversees a few times already though never to this extent & manner. A  five week adventure on my own where the extent of my agenda thus far is an arrival flight into Milan, Italy today and a return flight on 3/20. Along with a couple intended stops along the way from friends in Europe who have welcomed me.   How’d it happen? Here’s the story. Back in November I was in a place of immense uncertainty for what 2014 would be. It was completely unknown – to the extent that I wasn’t even sure of where I would be residing in January. That said I was doing my best to be positive & my approach was to stay open to the possibilities that presented themselves. I was having a homemade dinner that I made for my mom & aunt when I saw on my Facebook news feed a post from a friend about traveling to India for what appeared to be an outlandishly low price. I’ve only had a slight interest to travel to India though I am always open to finding a great travel deal. So I jumped on the opportunity & started exploring a bit more into it. (Tip: Be open to possibilities & when the right ones arrive JUMP on it) After doing some digging I found out that there was a Norwegian booking site that had a ticketing fluke for its prices. It took a few hours of trial & error to figure out my way around this travel hack. I even shared it with my friend Karla who saw the option for $60 RT from Chicago to Ibiz! We got excited though it didnt actually confirm & ticket that route for her (which is why I didn’t bother mass sharing this my self). By the time I finally did manage to find an option that appeared it might work it was 3am & the route was to fly to Milan for an 8 day trip. As said before, at the time I was with my mom & when I mentioned this to her she joined the...

The Greatness of a Hero

The Greatness of a Hero

As we get into the weekend of America’s biggest sporting event, let us take a pause to embrace why we watch this game. Beyond the excitement & entertainment of sports, there is an internal fulfillment from seeing the worlds best – these gladiator heroes – perform on the biggest stage. A 60 minute match that culminates the efforts, dedication, & passion that these athletes have given their entire life to make it this far. That fulfillment comes from our drive or desire to embrace that journey for ourselves. We are inspired to be a hero from watching these heroes perform. Greatness inspires greatness. All of us have our own call to greatness. And for the majority our stage won’t be a sporting arena. Though that doesn’t change what it will take to reach our dream become a reality. It takes it own amount of effort, dedication, & passion throughout a lifetime to reach the greatness we have inside. “The question is what are you going to do with your time? What drives you? Greatness is a lot of small things done well. Day after day. “ ___ For my self I will acknowledge that as I reflect on January that in some areas this first month of 2014 has not been my greatest. I have not made the progress I envisioned on some projects. I haven’t had the same drive that I am known for. I have fallen short of some commitments. I’ve pushed back deadlines. I haven’t been as available to serve my community. I may have even let some people down. That said, I needed this month to see some things about my self. To recognize some hidden truth about my self that for too often I had not accepted. I’ve had to go through the passage of no longer running from my pains. Of pushing my self to embrace my pain. To accept even those depths of my self. This pain has been a gift to me. I’m still learning how to fully embrace this. That said, I am ready to step out from this cocoon where I haven’t been as available to serve my community. ___ To starts things off we will continue with the...

Life. A beautiful wonder.

Life feels like a beautiful wonder right now. All the people. All the places. All the beauty. Each experience shapes me in some way. It leaves an impact just as I am able to leave my footprints wherever I share my presence. Some moments aren’t easy. Shit the path is often challenging as fuck. Though every day I get to keep breathing is a blessing. It’s an opportunity to bring a bit more joy to my life and in turn to those of others. I could only call it my Hero’s Journey. And yes, I am the gracious Hero who is faithfully showing up & courageously walking this path. You might even catch me dancing on my way! “Dance to the tune of the music that springs up from within.” – Anthony De Mello *What I’m listening to now: Sonnentanz by...

What if you could have everything you TRULY wanted

What if you could have everything you TRULY wanted

At times we feel “lucky” because we get to experience the good life that we have always “imagined”. The fancy clothes, the expensive vacations, the flowing alcohol, the glitz, the glamour, the rockstar lifestyle. That life can be fun – I know from experience. Yet is it truly the image of happiness that you have “always imagined?” Do you ever stop and wonder if what you want for you life right now is actually what YOU want? When you were a kid what was it that you most wanted? I tell you what, whatever that was is continuing to guide you today to seek what you want now. It does for all human beings on this planet because we share fundamentals human needs and desires. < However, what we want or need can be provided in an infinite amount of forms. Are you hungry? Okay, you can go to McDonalds and get chemically manufactured food or you can drink a healthy smoothie or protein shake. You can go to Hooters and get chicken wings served by a hot girl in tights or you can buy local groceries and make a meal for two. You get the idea. Now what you choose to experience will be most guided by your attention. Either by an established habit or by influence to make a certain decision. In case you missed it – ATTENTION – Your attention will determine what you experience in your life. This is key. Where is your attention going? Who is calling your attention? And ultimately, what is the purpose or intention of that source? ____ Whether you realize it or not, right now in your life you are experience everything that you truly desire. I know, its sounds crazy. Though, if you understand this concept & deeply reflect upon your life you will realize that it is true. The thing is, the image in your head of what you want might not actually be what YOU TRULY WANT. Its very likely that it’s what you have been influenced by others to desire. And they have been influenced by others to desire that so they guide you to share in that desire. It’s a natural cycle that can continue...

Celebrating 1 Year of Self Love & Acceptance

Celebrating 1 Year of Self Love & Acceptance

Exactly 1 year ago today I had one of – possibly even the most – transformative experiences of my life thus far. Let me take you back to where I was leading up to October 23, 2012.. It was the middle of fall & a little over a month since I had returned to Arizona after quitting my job & experiencing Burning Man for the first time. Post my Burn I also embarked on what I considered a Personal Pilgrimage. I traveled to Northern California for a Digital Detox retreat, visited the hospital I was born at, slept in the home I spent my first month of life, & manifested getting to personally meet two of my greatest heroes – Tony Robbins & Richard Branson. Live was calling me onto a new path. I felt ready to take it on BUT there was a key piece holding me back from truly embracing it. Life was better than ever during my adventures & I thought I had cracked the code to kept it that way. During my time home – in my “default world” – I realized that my life wasn’t as great as I knew it could be. After falling into a dip of depression from this reality check, my brother showed me a painting & poem that he had recently made as a gift for our (beautiful) mom. Autumn. Into the calm winds of autumn awaits an enduring love of letting go. Though our next spring time may lie far away, beauty is wide awake. Into the mellow sunsets of autumn looms an undying hope of life. Let the naked soil and thinking stems be signs of unforseen faith. Let the roots be full of dreams, yet wide awake. By Jahaziel “Haz” Linare After reading and listening to what it shared, it all made sense for me. The adventures of my pilgrimage made me aware of the potential life I was capable of experiencing. Though I would have to embark on an even greater adventure in my everyday life to be able to create that possibility into a reality. As the poem tells – Autumn would be a season of shedding the old & creating space for a...

Dare To Fail. Dare To Be Great.

Dare To Fail. Dare To Be Great.

It can be damn scary to go after the things you most want in life. I know because I feel it too – especially recently. Usually we are meet with the fear of failure or some similar fear. Yet most all the greats have meet failure many a times on their Hero’s Journey. The courageous are those that focus on progress. They have a growth mindset & realize that every step – no matter the direction – is one more step to greatness. “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.” There is a mantra that was shared with my by a mentor of mine who hast built a successful international chain of businesses: “The more you fail, the more you succeed.” It sounds contrary to common thought. How is it that more failing could lead to more success? For me I try to evolve how I frame the word ‘failure’. I realize that any step of action – even if it doesn’t work out – is forward progress. Another approach to this is one I that is common in the Silicon Valley startup world. It was shared with me at a young entrepreneurs lecturer by Guy Kawasaki (a famed tech expert & the Chief Evangelist of Apple when it first launched). “The faster you fail. The faster you succeed.” Again, it’s echoes the idea of just fucking going for it – and doing it now! Don’t be afraid that you will fail when you start. Most do. Rather, go into it saying ‘I’m going to get going & I’ll probably end up getting it wrong along the way.’ So what. Each time you do you will be one step closet to getting it right. Plus you might be one of the lucky ones who gets on the fast track once you get going. Either way it will take getting going to get anywhere. So move fast & break things. Get going NOW! It doesn’t matter if you ‘fail’ along the way, because the only true failure is never knowing by never getting going. _______ There might be some typos or improper grammar on this post. If so that is me “failing” and I’m not proud...

Receiving The Human Connection

Oct 13

No one can take away your human spirit. No one can stop you from being who you are. Regardless of how much you are influenced, dragged down, worked to the ground, or what you are asked to do. You can always stay connected to your spirit. It’s sometimes not easy, though all it takes is reconnecting. That Human Connection. At times it may feel like the world may fog you from experiencing this, though all it takes is that connection we all seek.   Give it. Allow your self to receive it. And share what is always true. Your true self....
